Sloow Tapes - Fir

Space hymns from deep woods within by Sloow Tapes Bart De Paepe and Golden Roadie Matt Valentine, crawling beyond shredding wah-wah guitars and intoxicating synth, culminating in twisted chouffe raga and porkslap pulse. Reissue of obscure Heroine cd-r, 100 copies.

SOLD OUT

Excellent ! (Venice Beach Communication/Young Girls)

Reissue of a long gone Heroine cdr. Sloow Road are a duo featuring Matt Valentine and Bart de Paepe. Some great zoned-out psych guitar from Matt and equally interplanetary synth textures from Bart. (Boa Melody Bar)

Reputedly a reissue of an obscure Heroine CD-R (you ever seen one?), this is a zoned duo date from Matthew ‘MV’ Valentine and Mr Bart De Paepe, rocking a long mellow stone on the porch in Vermont with MV dropping elegiac Lee Underwood styled single note gems into the eye of the sky in a way that seems linked to his earlier guitar style circa I Burned One With God. Totally slo-mo folk-drone-for-eternity feel. This one is endless, edition of 100 copies and already sold out at source. (Volcanic Tongue)

Sloow Tapes – Fir

New album by one of Japan’s key players in the psychedelic underground. Sachiko was also a member of legendary bands such as Overhang Party and Kousokuya among others. ‘With Lament’ finds itself in the lost worlds of eerie devotional chants drowned in eternal reflections of kaleidoscopic electronic powers. Paste-on cover, silkscreened insert and edition of 100 copies.
SOLD OUT
Fantastic new solo album from Sachiko, ex-Overhang Party/Kousokuya et al and long-term VT fave in an edition of only 100 copies. This is the closest she has yet come to cutting a full set of choral/early/devotional vocal settings, albeit dosed with hallucinatory levels of F/X and positioned on the lip of the most beautifully smudged void of sound-on-sound your ears ever curled round. If you dig the sounds of Grouper/US Girls/Inca Ore et al but have a more classically-bent psychedelic taste and worship at the feet of Japanese underground gods like Shizuka, Nijiumu, Toho Sara, Angel’n Heavy Syrup et al then this is the bomb you set out for. Highly recommended. (Volcanic Tongue)
Side one of this tape is a flowing sequence of pieces using Sachiko's voice, looped and layered into a lovely sort of chorale. It seems a bit strange to write this, but the one thing it reminded me of was the closing track on my own Phosphene album with Lol Coxhill and Raymond MacDonald, not that I'm suggesting this was any influence! Side 2 has spiraling spacey drones and a harsher electronic piece too. Another good Sloow Tape release. (JC/Boa Melody Bar)
